Project Scope
Tennyson is a 16-townhome project in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood, a hub of historic brick buildings, walkable streets, and modern redevelopment. Avenue Construction wanted balconies that would complement a traditional feel while offering all the advantages of modern construction for the upscale, brownstone architecture.
The vision was to offer a truly unique product with elevated living spaces, ensuring all seven floorplans were built precisely to the architect’s specifications.
“Being located in a small, historic space presented a few significant challenges for this project,” said Adam Kan, VP of Avenue Construction for Tennyson Germantown. “We needed our balconies to be a part of something that matched a very unique area, while also standing up to Tennessee’s unpredictable climate, and we had to do it all while keeping a tight schedule.”

Solving Challenges Before They Reach the Jobsite
Avenue Construction's Tennyson partners had to work in tight quarters to keep the project schedule on track and on budget. This limited space presented many challenges, including sequencing subcontractors within very short work windows and staggering construction into phases.
Our prefabricated aluminum balconies proved to be the perfect fit for the job, with a small crew hanging every balcony in just one day. Each unit arrived complete and ready to hang — without needing a stack of different trades to build and waterproof the buildings for traditional decks.
“One of the biggest selling points for Superior’s bolt-on balconies was that we didn’t have to worry about waterproofing or having to coordinate scheduling across trades for installation and sealing. This was just one of the many reasons why I’d recommend Superior to all our clients.”
The end result was a series of balconies that enhanced the architectural appeal of the refined brownstone community. The success at Tennyson has already led Avenue Construction to partner with Superior again on a large affordable housing project designed to provide quality living spaces for those struggling with mental health disorders.
